5:38pm And that brings us to the end of our coverage. India finish with the gold medal, with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh finishing second and third, respectively. A historic day for Indian cricket, and this is a day all of these girls will remember for a very, very long time. It was a pleasure bringing all the updates to you throughout, and hope you enjoyed it as much as we loved bringing this coverage to you. Until we meet next, this is me (Shashwat) signing off on behalf of Sudeep, Vairavan and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Goodbye and take care!

Women's cricket might now be done at the Asian Games, but there's a lot more action happening, head over to ESPN's live coverage for all the latest updates on India's contingent in Hangzhou.

5:33pm This was also Harmanpreet Kaur's 100th game as T20I captain, and she could not have hoped for a better outcome. She has now become only the second women's cricketer to captain her nation in 100 T20Is, behind Meg Lanning.

5:13pm After the heartbreak at last year's Commonwealth Games and the T20 World Cup semi-final defeat earlier this year, the Indian women's cricket team have finally laid their hands on the big prize. Their batting did not particularly blow Sri Lanka out of the water but it ensured that their bowlers had something to bowl at.

Titas Sadhu was the star of the show with the ball, picking up three wickets in her first spell and knocking the wind out of the Sri Lankan sails. Her spell also included the scalp of Athapaththu, which set the Sri Lankans back considerably. The spinners then did their bit, squeezing the Sri Lankan batters and forcing them to take risks.

Speaking of Sri Lanka, there were patches where they seemed in the hunt, especially when de Silva and Perera were at the crease together. Once the latter perished, though, it was a struggle. That sort of sums up their batting performance - moments that promised much, but were undermined by losing crucial wickets at vital junctures.

Gayakwad to Prabodhani, 1 run

India win by 19 runs, and they have won the gold medal at the women's cricket event at the Asian Games! A historic moment for Indian cricket, and they have been full value for their victory today! Back of a length outside off. Prabodhani cuts it into the off side and trudges across to the other end. The celebrations begin in the Indian camp, all of them are walking around with smiles on their faces. They know they have come up trumps when it really mattered. As for Sri Lanka, well, they might be left with a feeling of what might have been!

Gayakwad to Kumari, OUT

stumped by a mile! Fired in full outside off. Sugandika pre-meditates her advance and swings at it, because, well, why not. Misses the ball completely and Ghosh holds her nerve to effect the stumping!

Vaidya to Dilhari, OUT

all SL manage is a wicket! Floated up nicely on leg stump, and it seems Dilhari has been done in by the flight. Comes down the track, looking to maul it over cow corner but is not to the pitch of the ball. Swings way too early and the ball spoons up off the leading edge. Ghosh calls early and makes no mistake!

Vaidya to Dilhari, 2 runs

has Dilhari run herself out?! Flighted up again outside off. Dilhari looks to mow it over cow corner. All she manages, though, is an outside edge that flies past the keeper. Short third cuts it off and fires it back at the stumps as Dilhari tries to scamper back for the second. Stretches every sinew and just about makes it! From one angle, it seemed she had made it, but from another, it looked touch-and-go. In the end, the umpire made the right decision!

Sharma to Ranasinghe, OUT

Ranasinghe perishes! Is that the game?! Length delivery on off stump that grips in the surface and bounces extra again. Ranasinghe, like she did earlier in the over, looks for the reverse but can only pop it straight to short third because of the extra bounce! SL sink further into trouble!

well well! Tossed up just outside off. Ranasinghe has a massive go at the reverse sweep, almost switching over to a right-hander. Misses it completely and the keeper cannot gather either. SL get a bye for all their troubles

Deepti to bowl the 18th

Right. 33 needed off 18. Unless Harmanpreet decides to go back to Amanjot, this could be an all-spin passage to close out the game for India. Gayakwad has two overs left. Deepti and Devika have an over apiece left
