Karl Carver, a left-arm spinner, had only played two Championship matches by the end of 2015, but that was enough to bring him two Championship-winning medals as he played a bit-part role in Yorkshire's triumphs of 2014 and '15. There were no Championship opportunities the following year, but he did bowl arguably Yorkshire's most stressful over of the season, in a NatWest T20 Blast tie in fronmt of 17,000 at Headingley, when Liam Livingstone swung three successive full tosses for sixes before Carver managed to pitch two and was rewarded with successive legside boundary catches which just about sealed the contest.
Carver was a product of Sessay CC near York. He made his Championship debut at 18 against Warwickshire at Edgbaston midway through 2014 and took three wickets, and played the opening match at Worcester the following season. He has represented Yorkshire from U-14 level as well as played for England U-19s. He was named as the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust Scholar of the Year in September 2014 after promising displays for England U-19 against their South Africa counterparts.
