1950
The Almanack included pictures in the county sections, as well a county badge and a diagram of major grounds, for the first time. Walter Hadlee's New Zealanders were popular tourists, but with their Tests still only allocated three days all four matches were drawn. The editor urged five-day matches if series were not to be "almost farcical". The County Championship continued to attract massive interest, helped by good weather and a gripping finish which ended with Yorkshire and Middlesex sharing the title, the first such instance since 1889.
