World Series Cup - Third Final Match

†AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES 1981-82

At Sydney, January 26. Australia won by 46 runs. This was a splendid fight-back by Australia after they had been put in to bat and lost Chappell for yet another duck. Even so, a total of 214 was by no means out of West Indies' reach. But Lillee, with the roar of the Hill behind him, gave Australia a magnificent start, having both Greenidge and Richards leg before in his first spell. He received excellent support from Thomson, Pascoe and Malone, and although Lloyd did his best to prop up the innings. West Indies were never at any stage on terms with their target. Australia's victory brought them back into the finals after their two disastrous games in Melbourne.

Attendance: 29,484.
