†WEST INDIES v PAKISTAN 1981-82

At Brisbane, January 16. West Indies won on faster scoring-rate. A storm reduced an exciting match to a 30-over affair after Pakistan had been put in to bat and kept to 177 for nine in 50 overs. West Indies' target after the rain was 107 in 30 overs and they almost failed to achieve it, still needing 2 runs to win when the last man. Garner, came to the wicket. A fine opening spell from Sarfraz removed Greenidge, Haynes and Richards, and after nineteen overs West Indies were 61 for five. Bacchus then began to go for his strokes, after being missed at long-on off Sarfraz when 3. Had Pakistan won, they would have been in the finals of the competition at Australia's expense.

Man of the Match: S. F. A. Bacchus. Attendance: 11,102.
