Karppinen
Darren Wates was called into the Western Warrior's team after Stuart Karppinen declared himself unable to play due to a back and side complaint. Stuart will undergo a scan later today to determine the possible cause and extent of his injuries.
Darren Wates speaking about his return to the WA team said, "I'm very excited to receive an opportunity to play in this game, which is absolutely crucial to our chances of reaching the final of the ING Cup.
"It has been personally disappointing to miss the last three ING Cup games, and whilst the opportunity to play has unfortunately arisen due to an injury to a close friend, I'll certainly be endeavouring to play to the best of my ability to help the side win this match against the powerful Bulls line-up."
Wates was awarded best new talent in the Mercantile Mutual Cup for season 1999-2000. He has so far played in 18 limited over games for the Western Warriors since making his debut in the 1999-2000 season, and has taken 19 wickets at 35 and an economy rate of 4.9 runs per over.
