Draw was the end result after an intresting day's play in the Central Zone
Cooch Behar Trophy match involving Vidarbha and Rajasthan at the KL Saini
stadium in Jaipur on Monday. Rajasthan who took a lead of 21 runs in their
first innings earned five points while Vidarbha, three.
Set to score 238 for a win, Rajasthan were put on the right course by a 132
run second wicket stand between Vivek Sharma (63) and Dalpat Singh (60) in
40.4 overs. With the score at 148 both Vivek and Dalpat departed, but Afroz
Khan (41) guided them to safety with a 40 run fourth wicket stand in 15.3
overs in the company of Kunal Kuchhal (14 runs off 55 balls). Rajasthan
then proceeded to 207 for 6 when stumps were drawn.
In the final morning, Vidharba resuming at 184 for 3, declared their second
innings at 258 for 9. The score being helped along the way by a fine 76 by opener A Akbar and later by H Shitoot (60) who forged a 78 run fourth wicket stand with R Jadhav in 21.2 overs.
Earlier, Rajasthan in their first innings managed to take a slender lead
even as AP Pathradkar (5 for 47) ran through the lower order to leave them
stranded at 130. Vidarbha on the opening day were shot out for just 109
runs as N Gehlot returned with figures of 5 for 33.
