Haryana made the most of a good first day pitch at the Paddal stadium
in Mandi on Friday to run up a score of 240 for three wickets off 75.3
overs at stumps against Himachal Pradesh in a North Zone Ranji Trophy
league match.
Winning the toss, Haryana were given a sound start with openers
Padamjit Sehrawat and Jasvir Singh putting on 53 runs off 13.5 overs
before the latter was bowled by Rajinder Thakur for 21. Ishan Ganda
(7) did not last long but Sehrawat and skipper Parinder Sharma
initiated a recovery process by adding 80 runs for the third wicket
off 26.3 overs. Sehrawat was out for 79, compiled off 150 balls and
inclusive of 11 hits to the ropes.
Parinder Sharma and Rajesh Puri then consolidated Haryana's position
by adding 89 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket off 30.2 overs. By
stumps, Parinder Sharma was batting with 74. He has so far faced 178
balls and has hit eight fours and a six. Puri was on 46, compiled off
76 balls and inclusive of six hits to the fence. Play was called off
at 4 pm owing to bad light.
