Stroll in the park not what the doctor ordered

Hong Kong created history today when they thrashed Myanmar by a massive 422 runs in their second match of the ACC Trophy 2006.
Centuries from skipper Tim Smart (100 from 95 balls), Man of the Match Rahul Sharma (123 from 103 balls) and Hussain Butt (108* from 42 balls) and 85 in 70 balls from opener Irfan Ahmed lifted Hong Kong to the impressive total of 442-3 from their 50 overs. In reply, Hong Kong skittled the Burmese batsmen for just 20 runs with Najeeb Amar claiming 6 wickets for 2 runs from 6 overs while Afzaal Haider chipped in with 4 wickets for 18 runs from 6.3 overs. Wides were again the highest scorer for the opposition, with 9 or 45% of the Mayanmar total. Seven of the Myanmar batsmen failed to score.
The match saw a number of likely records broken (to be verified):
  • Highest score by Hong Kong in a 50 overs match - 442-3
  • Highest score by Hong Kong in an ACC Trophy match
  • Biggest winning margin by Hong Kong in a 50 overs match (batting first) - 422 runs
  • First instance of three Hong Kong batsmen scoring centuries in the same innings
  • Fastest century by a Hong Kong batsman - Hussain Butt 108* from 45 balls
  • Best analysis by a Hong Kong bowler - Najeeb Amar 6-5-2-6
Whilst happy with the win, Hong Kong would have been hoping for a tougher work-out as they take on sterner opposition in Nepal and Kuwait over the next few days. With Nepal having already beaten Kuwait on Monday, Sunday's clash with Kuwait will be a must-win encounter for Hong Kong.
