South Africa v Sri Lanka

At Dhaka, October 30 (day/night)

15-Apr-2000
At Dhaka, October 30 (day/night). South Africa won by 92 runs (D/L method). Toss: Sri Lanka.
Another highly efficient performance put South Africa in the final, even though they had to field through continuous drizzle, contending with a wet ball and a slippery surface. The first rainy day of the tournament meant the game was delayed for two hours, becoming a 39-over match; a further five overs were later lopped off the Sri Lankan innings, revising their target to 224 in 34. With the ground packed yet again, everyone worked hard to avoid international cricket's first bowl-out, and play continued until 11.30 p.m. South Africa gained the advantage from Kallis, who hit 113 off 100 balls, with five sixes. The Sri Lankan batsmen were out of sorts and lost wickets too quickly to get anywhere near the target.
Man of the Match: J. H. Kallis.
