At Durban, February 7, 2007 (day/night). Pakistan won by 141 runs. Toss: Pakistan.
When Pollock trapped Kamran Akmal in front with the fourth ball of the match, fears of another
hiding loomed. But it was South Africa who ended up on the receiving end. Younis Khan and
Mohammad Yousuf set up Pakistan's third-highest one-day total; Younis fell in sight of a century,
but Yousuf advanced to an unbeaten 101. He added 129 in 12 overs with Shahid Afridi, who did
what he does best and heaved 77 off 35 balls, including six sixes. In reply, several South Africans
made promising beginnings, only to succumb when push came to shove. Superb new-ball bowling
by Mohammad Asif and aggressive leg-spin from Afridi dismissed them with ten overs left. South
Africa's best chance of saving the game was a 30-minute power cut, just before they had batted
the 20 overs needed for a result.
Man of the Match: Younis Khan. Attendance: 20,798.
