Virender Sehwag has praised the innovative 'rolling camp' in Bangalore, saying that such camps are ideal preparation for the upcoming season and next year's World Cup in the West Indies.
The camp was launched by Greg Chappell, the India coach, in which 16 players were split into three batches in order to focus on individuals and to allow each player to give his feedback. The first batch included Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Ajit Agarkar and Irfan Pathan.
"We are at the planning stages of how to play in different match situations," Sehwag told reporters. "We are training here not just with the Malaysian tri-series in mind but also the World Cup next year."
Chappell and Rahul Dravid, the captain, yesterday devoted time to each player and Sehwag highlighted the importance of getting a player's perspective in improving his overall performance.
"The previous camps focused on physical conditioning and mental toughness, but this is an ideas camp," he said. "It's important to take ideas from everybody. Many times only the captain, vice-captain and the coach hold discussions, but other players also have good ideas. "
India will play two practice matches in Chennai on September 8 and 9 before departing for Malaysia and Sehwag added that they would implement their ideas in these games.
