Scots leave place for Hamilton
SCOTLAND'S selectors have left the World Cup door open for Gavin
Hamilton by naming a 14-man squad plus four reserves.
Should the Scottish-born Yorkshire all-rounder fail to gain a
place in the England squad, due to be named on Feb 28, he would
fill the 15th place.
The only other major surprise is the relegation of Craig Wright
to reserve. The West of Scotland medium-pacer won the
man-of-the-match award in last season's NatWest first-round
triumph over Worcestershire after taking five for 25. Should
Hamilton be required by England, Wright would presumably move up.
Although the captain, George Salmond, has plenty of bowling
options, the selection of only four front-line batsmen leaves
that department a little short of experience.
Scotland go to Sharjah in April before playing three warm-up
games against counties, Their first World Cup match is against
Australia at Worcester on May 16.
