Records beckon for trio

A trio of Queensland's finest players are set to break career milestones in the next week as the XXXX Bulls set their sights on making the Pura Cup and ING Cup Finals.

Pace bowler Michael Kasprowicz needs two more wickets to become Queensland's leading Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup wicket-taker and overtake Carl Rackemann, whose record stands at 383 wickets.

Those two wickets will also see him reach 800 first class career wickets for Queensland, Australia, Australia 'A', Essex, Leicestershire and Glamorgan.

Kasprowicz passed Rackemann's record for 425 first class wickets for Queensland earlier this season and now has 440 wickets for one State, with only retiring WA stalwart Jo Angel (445) and Clarrie Grimmett (668) ahead of him on the all-time list.

Wicket-keeper Wade Seccombe will play his 100th first class game for Queensland, a feat that Kasprowicz achieved last week against Tasmania in Hobart.

And former captain Stuart Law, the most capped player in the State's history, needs 47 runs to pass Sam Trimble (9465) for the most first-class runs for Queensland and 115 to pass Sam Trimble (8647) for the most Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup runs for Queensland.

Law is coming off his record-breaking one-day century for the Bulls in Monday's ING Cup match against Tasmania, scoring his 100 off just 69 balls to break his own mark for the fastest domestic one-day century.

The Bulls will be back in action on Friday in their day/night match against the NSW Blues at the Gabba and then for the Pura Cup match against NSW starting on Sunday.

NSW are one point behind Queensland in the ING Cup and trail Queensland by five points in the Pura Cup. The Bulls occupy third spot in both competitions and face a crunch series of matches in the next three weeks if they are to challenge for a Finals berth.

Queensland have named the same teams that played last week for the two matches against NSW.

The games will also represent the final chance for Queensland fans to farewell Australian champions Stephen and Mark Waugh. The duo will retire at the end of the season.

Stephen Waugh made his first class debut against Queensland at the Gabba in 1984-85 and is set to play his last first class game against the Bulls in Sydney in March.
