a century by Shoaib Mohammad (163) resulting in their third wicket
massive stand of 367 runs, helped Pakistan International Airline to
declare their first innings at a formidable total of 550 for four
against Lahore Division Cricket Association (LDCA) on the second day
of their Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy match at the Sheikhupura Stadium,
according to a message received here on Sunday.
Both the century-makers and the Test discarded resumed the PIA first
innings in the morning with overnight strong position of 287 for two.
By close of play, LDCA were in deep trouble as had lost six wickets
cheaply for 96 in 32 overs. Captain Maqsood Raza (26) and Mohammad
Haroon (12) will resume the innings on Monday morning.
For PIA, paceman Ali Gohar and international leg-spinner Nadeem Khan
had taken three wickets each for 33 and 15 runs, respectively.
Asif Mujtaba who began with 107 slammed 32 boundaries to score 240. He
stayed at the wicket for 410 minutes and faced 335 deliveries. Shoaib
Mohammad smashed 16 boundaries and one towering six during 423 minutes
stay at the crease. Asif Mujtaba and Shoaib Mohammad's third wicket
collaboration lasted 353 minutes.
Sohail Jafar who scored 51 and Zahid Fazal who made 31 remained
unbeaten, collecting 55 runs in their fifth wicket partnership.
