Opener Imran Nazir made 34 off just eight balls as Pakistan beat England to notch up their second win in the 2002 Hong Kong Sixes being played at the Kowloon Cricket Ground.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Moin Khan decided to buck the trend and bat first after winning the toss. Nazir was the only batsman to thrive; he played eight balls while thumping four fours and three sixes before retiring hurt. With the rest of the batsmen struggling, Mr Extras with 12 turned out to be the second highest scorer. The eventual Pakistan total of 68-4 seemed modest to say the least but the England batsman struggled when they began their chase.
Captain Matthew Maynard was the first to go, out after making just one. All-rounders Paul Collingwood and Ronnie Irani also failed to make handy contributions as Adam Hollioake (30 off 16 balls with three fours and two sixes was forced to wage a lone and in the end futile hand.
For Pakistan, Naved-ul-Hasan returned flattering figures of one over, three runs and two wickets. With just a match against Australia in hand, Pakistan, who now have four points from two matches, will be fancying their chances of making it to the Championship round.
