NSW appeal against over rate penalty dismissed

An appeal lodged by Cricket New South Wales against an over rate penalty incurred by the Speed Blitz Blues in a December Pura Cup match has been dismissed.

The Speed Blitz Blues were penalised one (1) point for not meeting over rate requirements in its Pura Cup match against the Victorian Bushrangers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 12-15 December.

The team was found to be two overs behind the required over rate at the conclusion of the match. Such an infringement incurs a penalty of 0.5 points for each over behind the required rate.

Cricket New South Wales lodged an appeal against the penalty, which was this week dismissed by Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour Commissioner Judge Gordon Lewis.

The New South Wales Speed Blitz Blues are in fifth place on the Pura Cup table with 11 points, behind competition leaders the Victorian Bushrangers on 28 points.
