On the same day that Justin Kemp made his one-day international against South Africa, the 23-year-old Eastern Province allrounder was drafted into a 12-man squad for the third and final Castle Lager/MTN Test match against Sri Lanka, starting at SuperSport Park on Saturday.
Kemp has been brought into the squad as cover for Lance Klusener who has a slightly torn cartilage in his right knee. He will play of Klusener is not passed fit, but selection convener Rushdi Magiet said that Klusener will be given as long as possible to prove his fitness.
If Klusener cannot play, it is likely that h will undergo an operation to ensure his fitness for South Africa's tour to the West Indies in March.
There are two changes to the side that beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 229 runs in the second Test at Newlands. Allan Donald returns to spearhead the attack and slips into the hole left by Mfuneko Ngam who has a stress fracture of his right femur.
And after missing the Newlands Test, Boeta Dippenaar is back to partner Herschelle Gibbs at the top of the batting as Gary Kirsten recovers from a fractured bone in his hand.
The squad
Herschelle Gibbs, Boeta Dippenaar, Jacques Kallis, Daryll Cullinan, Neil McKenzie, Mark Boucher, Lance Klusener, Nicky Boje, Shaun Pollock (capt), Allan Donald, Makhaya Ntini, Justin Kemp.
