Nagraj Gollapudi
15-Apr-2010
At Durban, May 5, 2009. Rajasthan Royals won by 78 runs. Toss: Kings XI Punjab. Rajasthan Royals 211-4 (20 overs) (N. V. Ojha 68, G. C. Smith 77, R. A. Jadeja 33); Kings XI Punjab 133-8 (20 overs) (Yuvraj Singh 48; Amit Singh 3-9). Rajasthan Royals 2 pts. Man of the Match: G. C. Smith.
Graeme Smith, who had scored only 65 runs in his first six matches, returned to form with a blistering 77* from 44 balls, including 12 fours and a six. He put on 135 for the first wicket in 14.5 overs with Naman Ojha, who matched him for big hitting (five fours and five sixes), and the later batsmen made sure the total reached 200 - the only time that barrier was breached in this tournament (there were 11 scores of 200-plus in the first IPL, in India). Punjab lost two wickets in the first over, and never looked like climbing the mountain.
