The innings which Brendan Taylor played against India, on Saturday, helped put the pressure on a confident Indian unit in their World Cup 2015 Group B match played in Auckland.
Taylor, playing his last innings for Zimbabwe, signed a three-year Kolpak deal with Nottinghamshire which makes him ineligible to play for Zimbabwe while that contract is in effect.
He became the first Zimbabwean batsman to score back-to-back centuries. The right-hander came to the crease in the fifth over of the match after Zimbabwe had lost its openers and he combined forces with Sean Williams for a 93-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Taylor reached his hundred off 99 balls, in the 39th over, with a six over long-on. It was his eighth hundred and he overtook Alastair Campbell for the most number of hundreds scored by a Zimbabwean.
Taylor switched gears after he reached three figures and thumped Ravindra Jadeja for 25 runs from the 41st over. The late-onslaught ensured that Zimbabwe posted an impressive 287 in their innings. Taylor plundered 15 fours and five sixes in his 138-run knock. His innings qualifies for #BendTheRules Moments of the day.
