India can close the gap between themselves and Pakistan in the ICC One-Day International Championship table to three points if they win the Jubilee Match between the two sides in Kolkata on Saturday 13 November.
After losing their most recent encounter against Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2004, India go into the match in seventh place in the official table with 102 points.
A win would boost their rating to 103 points, while Pakistan's rating would drop from 108 to 106 points.
Pakistan are currently in fourth place, and they must win the one-off match to hold on to that position. Defeat would see them drop below the West Indies and England, and into sixth position.
New Zealand's 3-0 series whitewash over Bangladesh cemented their hold on third position in the official ODI table, moving them to within two points of Sri Lanka with 117 points. If New Zealand can win two of their three ODI matches against Australia in December, they will climb to second place.
In the ICC Test Championship table, a 2-1 series victory in India affirmed Australia as the top Test side and they continue to hold a commanding 19-point lead over England, who are in second place.
Over recent weeks, both India and Pakistan have missed out on opportunities to claim the second spot in the official Test table. Both sides remain four points behind England on 105 points, after they have failed to win their latest home series.
Pakistan's 1-1 home series draw against Sri Lanka puts them in third place, and just narrowly ahead of India when the ratings are re-calculated to three decimal places.
India, however, will have an opportunity to climb the table in the forthcoming two-Test series against South Africa. If they won both matches, India would draw level with England on 109 points.
