The first session was a bit tough, but we managed to pull it back in the middle. While 575 is not a total you want to see, it could have been a lot worse.

I was happy with the way I was going and picking up five wickets was good. I put a lot of overs in and it was nice to get a reward. I'll take five wickets against Australia any day.

On the chances of winning
We take a lot of heart out of what India did last year, and if we can get a score close to 500 and make Australia bat again under pressure we have a really good chance of forcing a result. If we don't bat well over the next two days we've got no chance, but we're confident of doing well.

On his bowling in Adelaide as compared to his bowling in Brisbane
It's reasonably similar and I'm doing the same sort of job - bowling a lot of overs and working away from one end while guys can rotate from the other. My plans are never about rolling through Australia, they are about maintaining line and length and hoping they make a mistake. It was never going to be all-out in 30 overs, it was going to be a long hard toil.

On Paul Wiseman's performance
Paul always bowls well for New Zealand when he gets the chance. Obviously he'd like to be bit more inexpensive, and he took three really good wickets and contained them at times. I thought he bowled really well.

You need the extra spinner most of the time here and we needed all five bowlers. Obviously you want all five to fire but sometimes that doesn't happen.

I thought I've had him early twice but it hasn't happened, so it was nice, albeit 50 runs later.

It is hot but once you get out in the middle it's not too bad. Once you settle it's not too draining.

I'm a little bit frustrated not to get there. I worked pretty hard to get through and almost played the perfect innings without getting three figures.

I was bowled off the pad and disappointed it was so far outside leg stump. I'm not the most orthodox player around and I get out in funny ways sometimes.

Twelve months ago we let it slip against India. We came together this morning and talked about getting a big score and not letting the other team back in the game. We achieved that today. We were able to declare, that was a great option, and we bowled well. Overall it was a great day.

Who knows? A year is a long time in sport so we'll wait and see. I'd love to score a century in front of my home crowd.

It's tough to give any decision these days. It's really hard for the umpires being out there for six and a half hours. It didn't make much difference, we got him out two balls later anyway.

It's going to be pretty tough work because it's holding together pretty well. Tomorrow will still be a good day to bat and the fourth and fifth day will spin. We'll have to bowl well.
