Brad Hodge's expected move from the Melbourne Stars to the Adelaide Strikers has been confirmed, with the batsman joining the Strikers as both player and assistant coach. The signing was no surprise, given that Hodge was one of three players whose dealings with the Strikers had been the subject of a Cricket Australia investigation that led to South Australia being fined.
Hodge, 39, has joined former Perth Scorchers opener Craig Simmons and ex-Hobart Hurricanes seamer Ben Laughlin in signing with the Strikers for 2014-15. Darren Berry, the coach of the Strikers and a former Victoria team-mate of Hodge, said he looked forward to seeing what sort of influence Hodge would have on the batting group.
"Hodgey continues to dominate against the best bowlers in the world," Berry said. "He is a T20 specialist and has a great understanding of what it takes to succeed in this version of the game.
"There are few players in the world who have the experience that Hodgey has. He is very generous with his knowledge and we can't wait to see the influence he will have on our batting line-up."
