More than a billion people around the world will have the opportunity to watch October's epic clash between Australia and the ICC World XI, following the announcement of television licensing arrangements for the Johnnie Walker Super Series.
Cricket fans in Australasia, Asia, the UK, Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and North America are guaranteed coverage of the three-match One Day International series in Melbourne and the six-day Super Test that will follow in Sydney.
ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed said that the global interest in securing TV rights for the series had been extremely strong and was a positive endorsement of the concept behind the Johnnie Walker Super Series: "TV rights are a vital component of international cricket and we have been delighted with the enthusiasm this series has generated among international broadcasters covering all major cricketing markets. We are confident that our twin objectives of meeting event revenue targets and achieving maximum global audience reach will be met."
Channel 9 Australia will be the host broadcaster for the series and provide a world feed service to Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in Asia and the Middle East, BSkyB in the UK, Super Sport in Africa, the Caribbean Media Corporation in the Caribbean, Sky New Zealand and Echostar in North America.
The Johnnie Walker Super Series match schedule includes three One Day Internationals at the Telstra Dome, Melbourne on 5, 7 and 9 October followed by the Sydney Super Test from 14 to 19 October.
