England star Charlotte Edwards will be looking to top a successful season with a winning performance in tomorrow's climax of the women's county game, the Premier League Final.
Edwards' team Invicta LCC, the Kent side that also includes fellow England batsman Barbara Daniels, meet Wakefield WCC from Yorkshire in a 50-over a side match at Campbell Park Cricket Ground, Milton Keynes.
The final will be hosted by league organisers the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and sees the winners of the Northern League take on their Southern counterparts in a competition that has welcomed 44 new women's clubs in the past year and seen a 19 per cent increase in participation among existing contenders.
Invicta, holders of the Premier League title following their win against Yorkshire's North Riding WCC last year, won the Southern League convincingly by 53.5 points .
Wakefield field two established England international players of their own. Kathryn Leng, the top order batsman and Clare Taylor are looking to secure a double following Yorkshire's County Championship win in August when they beat Kent.
Leng had an indifferent international season with the bat, and will look upon the Premier League Final as the last competitive opportunity to score runs before England begin their World Cup preparations.
The medium paced bowling of double international Clare Taylor was instrumental in sustaining Yorkshire's unbeaten run at the County Championships and Wakefield's dominance of the Premier League North Division One. Taylor has represented her country at cricket and football, an honour shared with Sir Viv Richards.
The match starts at 12noon and admission is free.
