Durham 139 for 2 (Collingwood 88*) trail Worcestershire 171 (Davies 6-32) by 32 runs
Scorecard
Durham continued their commanding start to the season to show their innings victory against Leicestershire was no flash-in-the-pan. Durham's powerful position looked unlikely when Worcestershire progressed to 75 without loss after choosing to bat first. But then Mark Davies launched into an inspired spell, claiming the first six wickets to fall. Paul Collingwood chipped in with the prize scalp of Graeme Hick and Steve Harmison wrapped up the tail with three wickets, including Chaminda Vass for a breezy 26. Vass then struck back for Worcestershire, bowling Mike Hussey (2) before he could threaten to repeat his double century from last week. Paul Collingwood powered Durham towards a first innings lead and even the loss of Jon Lewis before the close could not take the gloss off another fine day for Durham.
Northamptonshire 90 for 0 v Leicestershire
Scorecard
Northamptonshire's new-look opening pair of Martin Love and Bilal Shafayat built their side a solid foundation before the rain arrived to put a halt to proceedings. After his winter move from Nottinghamshire, Shafayat has been given an opportunity to nail down an opening berth at Trent Bridge and did his chances no harm, stroking six boundaries from the 79 balls he faced. Martin Love's run scoring credentials are well known, Northants will be relying on him the season, so it was no surprise to see him progress into the forties before the weather closed in.
Yorkshire v Somerset
Scorecard
No play was possible at Headingley due to rain so the contest between Matthew Hoggard and Marcus Trescothick will have to be put on hold.
