1. R Ashwin's double-strike in the third over jolted Kolkata Knight Riders. With his second ball, after Chris Gayle hit a six, Ashwin had the batsman stumped and four balls later picked up Brendon McCullum when he top-edged a sweep.
2. Ashwin should have had a hat-trick but Simon Taufel failed to spot a deflection off Angelo Mattews' gloves. Mathews went on to score 48.
3. Gayle bowled Matthew Hayden in the first over, but that proved to be dangerous for Kolkata. Enter Suresh Raina, who set the tone for an incredible innings with three fours in the first over he faced.
