Dougie Brown, the former Scotland and Warwickshire allrounder, has been appointed by the club as its assistant coach.
The new role was created by merging the Second XI coaching post previously held by Keith Piper, as well as Brown's position as head of Warwickshire's academy. Piper, who has spent 19 years with the club, has decided to take voluntary redundancy.
"Firstly, I would like to thank Pipes for his service to the club. He has been a great servant for Warwickshire and has been a lively character to have around the dressing room both in his playing career and as a coach," said Ashley Giles, Warwickshire's director of cricket. "Pipes will always be remembered for his outstanding keeping skills during the glory years in the nineties.
"Moving forward, I believe Dougie will bring his raw enthusiasm and passion for cricket into his new role, he is a Bear through and through and will offer support both mentally and physically to the players in his charge."
