Brewster joins Hong Kong Selection Panel

The Hong Kong Cricket Association is pleased to announce that KCC's Raymond Brewster has agreed to join the panel of Hong Kong Cricket Selectors. Brewster's appointment is for six months only, filling the position vacated by Mark Eames who stepped down to concentrate on his role as a player.

Brewster joins the other selectors on the selection panel - namely Krishna Kumar, Mike Walsh, Robin Singh (Hong Kong Coach) and Tim Smart (Hong Kong Captain). All selectorial positions will be up for re-election in September 2007.

During his six month tenure, Ray Brewster will participate in the selection of players for the World Cricket League Division Three tournament, to be held in Darwin, Australia during May 2007. His main role will be to observe the national players, spot talent and combine this with his own cricket experiences to help select the best team for Hong Kong.

The 55-year old Brewster, who has lived in Hong Kong since July 1981, is a veteran on the Hong Kong cricket scene. He represented Hong Kong at the ICC Trophy tournaments in 1986 (England), 1990 (Holland), 1994 (Kenya) and 1998 (Malaysia)and also represented the territory at numerous Tuanku Ja'afar Cup and other regional tournaments. He still plays regularly for Kowloon Cricket Club teams in the HKCA Saturday League and HKCA Sunday League.

Brewster previously served as a national cricket selector for a period of 18 months but stood down after being selected to play for Hong Kong in 1997.
