The Wisden Almanack doesn't carry a full report of Australia's 1882 tour of England - the practice of summing up tours in that way begins with the next tour, in 1884. However, there is a long report of the solitary Test played - the epic encounter at The Oval which Australia won by seven runs and which spawned the legend of the Ashes.
Overall the busy Australians, who were captained by Billy Murdoch, squeezed in 33 first-class matches and five other games on their four-month tour. They lost four (to Cambridge University, the Players, Cambridge Past & Present, and the North of England) and drew 11 of their matches, but won 18 of the first-class matches and all five of the minor games. Fred Spofforth took 157 wickets on the tour, while Murdoch made the most runs - 1582.
