Anureet helps Railways to first-innings points

A round-up of the Ranji Trophy Group A matches on January 24, 2015

Railways 234 for 5 dec (Bhosale 54) and 18 for 0 drew with Jammu & Kashmir 114 (Anureet 5-48)
Scorecard
Seamer Anureet Singh claimed a five-for to help skittle Jammu & Kashmir for 114, and secure first-innings points for Railways. Railways declared seven overs into the morning, on 234 for 5, and their bowlers took just 42.4 overs to end J&K's reply. Anureet struck a couple of early blows, before returning to wrap up the tail. He was supported by fellow seamers Krishnakant Upadhyay and Ranjitkumar Mali, who picked up two apiece. None of the J&K batsmen could get past Aditya Singh's 32. Railways then batted out eight overs, before play was called off.
Bengal 141 for 4 (Chatterjee 60, Saha 45*) drew against Uttar Pradesh
Scorecard
For the third consecutive day, persistent rain in Ghaziabad resulted in a washout, meaning that Bengal and Uttar Pradesh had to settle for a point each. Only 57 overs of play was possible throughout the game, with Bengal making 141 for 4 on day one. The result did little to help either team, as Uttar Pradesh are rooted to the bottom of Group A with eight points, while Bengal have been dragged into a mid-table slugfest, with 11 points and no wins from their six matches.
