The Gals are in good spirits despite the loss  •  UB

Before I start on this entry, I just wanted to share one thing. There are no Starbucks in Cape Town! Can you believe that?
After our euphoric win in Cape Town, the Mischief Gals left for Port Elizabeth and the only "adventure" worth mentioning here is that on our way to the airport we found that Jamie had lost her passport. For the next 20 minutes there was complete bedlam with everyone's luggage turned upside down in the belief that it would be found. And it was. It was there amid a lot of shoes in Andrea's rucksack. So much for organised packing!
And as for me, I had the rare chance to sit beside the pilot in the jump seat and ride in the cockpit for the entire flight, which was darn cool, considering that you could watch the take-off and landing. Must say South Africa is quite the beautiful place.
Our hotel in Port Elizabeth is also very neat, as it overlooks the beach, has a pool, and has full kitchens in our room. Some of the girls went shopping and tooling around the boardwalk, while others watched the cricket matches on TV, and a few caught up with their friends and families at home - using Skype on their computers, as it is much cheaper than US$2.99 per minute, which is what calling home from South Africa on a cellphone costs.
It is kinda sad that we lost the game with Chennai, but then it is just the start of the tournament and we have a lot more matches to be among the top teams. Come on, anyone can have a bad day at the office. No need to start panicking. True, we all felt a bit sad, but then as cheerleaders we cannot stay down in the dumps. So we will do what girls do best to get out of depression. We will go shopping!
Time to make a trip downtown. Need to remember to take my calculator, what with the exchange-rate of the rand to the dollar. A girl cannot be asked to do too much arithmetic, can she? I also need to find out if there is a Starbucks here. God, I'm dying for a good American Frappucino!
