One of the world's top ten largest banks has added its financial strength and support to international cricket's newest and most glamorous event, October's Johnnie Walker Super Series.
ABN AMRO Bank is already a supporter of a number of major sporting events, including the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament and the Volvo Ocean Race 2005. It also has links with Ajax Football Club in Amsterdam and in 2004 was one of the backers behind the triangular cricket tournament in Amstelveen, Holland, which featured India, Australia and Pakistan.
This latest involvement in top class international sport will see ABN AMRO become an Official Partner of the Johnnie Walker Super Series, where world champion team Australia will take on ICC World XI sides in three One Day Internationals at Melbourne's Telstra Dome and a six-day Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
"ABN AMRO has a track record of commercial involvement in top class sporting events and I am delighted they have chosen to extend this association to the Johnnie Walker Super Series. I am confident that the huge TV audiences the event will attract will provide an outstanding return on their investment in terms of brand awareness and the positive association of being involved in a prestige cricket event of this nature," said ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed.
"The ICC Super Series is truly a global cricketing event and it's a unique and rare opportunity to see the best come together on the playing field. With players from diverse nationalities, demonstrating varied skills and expertise, the world XI will surely redefine the meaning of teamwork, passion and commitment. ABN AMRO much like the World XI strives to get the finest talent together to deliver a match winning combination of products and services. As we believe at ABN AMRO, when the best play together, excellence is inevitable. It is these values that resonate with our belief and hence it was a natural choice to be the proud partner of the prestigious ICC Super Series," said Nitin Chopra, Executive Vice President & Head - Consumer Banking, India.
The company is the second Official Partner to be announced for the Johnnie Walker Super Series, joining Hero Honda, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
