The contracts of Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss and his assistant Paul Farbrace have been extended until the next World Cup in 2011, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) authorities announced on Sunday.
"We have decided to extend the contracts of the coaches," Nishanta Ranatunga, the SLC secretary, said. "We did an evaluation on their performance and the feedback we got was fairly good. They are doing a good job and we want them to continue."
Bayliss, the 46-year-old former New South Wales batsman, was appointed in June 2007 and became the fifth coach from Australia to take charge of Sri Lanka since 1995. Dav Whatmore had two stints with the national side. and was followed by Bruce Yardley, John Dyson and then Tom Moody.
His British assistant Farbrace, 41, who was appointed in July 2007, was among those injured when gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan bus in Lahore earlier this month.
