After their come-back-from-behind series win against India, the South African selectors have retained the same Test squad for the forthcoming three-Test series against Pakistan at home.
Haroon Lorgat, the South African chairman of selectors, announced the 16-member squad after South Africa fought back bravely to win the series 2-1 in Cape Town. They were one-nil down after Johannesburg. Jacques Rudolph, the middle-order batsman, and spinner Paul Adams have been retained despite being in the reserves for the last two Tests.
"We remain confident with our plans to build a successful Test Squad and have therefore retained the same squad for the series against Pakistan," Lorgat said.
South Africa face another gruelling schedule at home with three back-to-back Tests, with the first Test at Centurion starting on January 11 followed by a five-match one-day series and a Twenty20 international.
Squad Graeme Smith (Capt), Jacques Kallis, Paul Adams, Hashim Amla, Nicky Boje, Mark Boucher (wk), AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Hall, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Shaun Pollock, Ashwell Prince, Jacques Rudolph, Dale Steyn, Paul Harris
