Jagmohan Dalmiya, the former president of the ICC and Indian board, has resigned as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Wednesday, sources said.
With pressure building up on him following his life expulsion from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Dalmiya was expected to resign as the president before a crucial meeting of the CAB's working committee that was scheduled to discuss the issue of his continuance at the helm of affairs.
Dalmiya's detractors, owing allegiance to police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee, had claimed that he could no longer function as CAB president following his expulsion from the BCCI. They had cited article 38 (V) of the BCCI constitution that debars a person expelled from the board from being associated in any capacity with any affiliate unit.
Dalmiya is likely to be succeeded by BN Dutt, the former president of the BCCI and CAB.
