Ruled out of the first two one-dayers against Sri Lanka, Mohammad Kaif, India's middle-order batsman, has said that a decision will only be made after John Gloster, the team physio, makes a complete assessment of his injury. Kaif's injury will keep him out of action for at least two weeks.
"I have a muscle strain and it takes at least two weeks to recover from such an injury. I am going to Bangalore tomorrow to meet John to consult on my injury," Kaif was reported as saying by the website Rediff. He injured himself during the final of the Challenger series against India B and was therefore not picked in the 15-member team for the first two matches for the home series against Sri Lanka.
Commenting on the one-day series against Sri Lanka, Kaif said that it would be a competitive one and that India should look to use their home advantage. "They are a very good side. Last time we played them, the matches were very close but I am hopeful that we will perform well in the series," he said.
Kaif refused to comment on how he felt captaining the India Seniors in the Challenger series.
