Sourav Ganguly became the second Indian player on tour to get the fever bug, which forced him to miss the nets session on Wednesday. Virender Sehwag, Ganguly's partner at the top of the order, missed the match against Zimbabwe as he was running a temperature.
Speaking to Hindustan Times on Wednesday, Ganguly said: "There are still two days to go before the next match, so it's not that I am uncertain for Friday's game against New Zealand." Ganguly has had a poor tournament so far, scoring 5 and 20 in the two matches.
Meanwhile, Sehwag is expected to participate in the nets on Thursday after recovering from his ailment. With no other regular opener in the squad, the Indians will want both Sehwag and Ganguly to be fit to take on Shane Bond and co. on Friday.
New Zealand have already qualified for the final with three wins in three games, while India have won one match out of two so far.
