The latest Tsunami Appeal match gets underway at The Oval tonight - and for the first time it is being played in Twenty20 format. Rahul Dravid will captain the Asia XI and Brian Lara will again lead the International XI, a team which lost to an MCC XI in the 50-over format last Tuesday. Adam Hollioake, who gained something of a formidable reputation in the Twenty20 arena, has been brought out of retirement for this match and will play for the International XI.
"I don't play any cricket any more," Hollioake, the former Surrey and England player, told BBC Sport, "so it'll be exciting." Hollioake vowed that the teams would take the match seriously in front of what Surrey hope will be a sell-out 23,000 crowd. "I think we'll play it properly," he added, "I don't think there's any point in not playing properly because people don't pay to see guys just messing around." He was a last-minute addition to the side which will be managed by Alec Stewart.
Asia XI: Rahul Dravid (captain), Virender Sehwag, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara (wicket-keeper), Mahela Jayawardene, Mohammad Kaif, Anil Kumble, Chaminda Vaas, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Muttiah Muralitharan.
International XI: Brian Lara (captain), Graeme Smith, Stephen Fleming, Andy Flower (wicket-keeper), Adam Hollioake, Chris Cairns, Shaun Pollock, Heath Streak, Dominic Thornely, Shane Warne, Makhaya Ntini.
