The four shortlisted candidates for the post of the Indian coach have been asked to appear for an interview, which would tentatively be held on either May 19 or May 26. Gautam Dasgupta, the joint secretary of the BCCI, told the Press Trust of India that the four candidates had been officially informed.
The chosen four - Greg Chappell, Tom Moody, Mohinder Amarnath and Sandeep Patil - would now have to appear for an interview, which would be held either in Kolkata or Delhi, and the final date will be decided after ascertaining the availability of all four candidates. The board were also in touch with three other former internationals from abroad and they could also be invited to the interview if they were willing. Dasgupta added that the board didn't want to announce the names of the other three at this stage.
Ranbir Singh Mahindra, the board president who will chair the committee to select the coach, had earlier announced that the new appointment would be made by June 15. The six-member committee also includes Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Jagmohan Dalmiya and SK Nair, the board's secretary.
